There is so much of educational content in YouTube EDU & other video sites, Open Courseware, and the web, but they are severely underutilized. Our goal is to package top quality educational materials together in easily accessible ways along with social tools to make education fun, free and engaging. As students are still recovering from the triple whammy of depleted college savings, increased tuition and dminished job market, we believe this will help prepare them for tomorrow' jobs without burning their pockets.
NalandaU is a free virtual university with the largest collection of educational videos (6000 hours) in over 300 topics ranging from Quantum mechanics to iPhone programming to business law to running your startup. We are also rolling out a educational platform to connect students and educators where students could get personalized tutoring services for specific lectures they are interested in.
We provide tools to take course notes & view them from the central place, take tests & manage grades, connect with friends in facebook in the virtual class, view related courses and collaborate with friends on class projects. We also have career advice(like writing a resume, attending an interview) and in the future plan to provide tools for employers to get their target employees by filtering on courses taken, grades, etc.
We have about 300 courses in 75 subjects organized under 10 top level departments. Out of these include 47 are from MIT, 33 from Stanford, 24 from Yale, 11 from UCLA, 22 from Berkeley and 36 from Indian Institutes of Technology.
